Edale Ltd in the News - Press Releases

Edale and AGFA at LabelExpo Europe 2009

With over 300 serious enquiries from 60 countries and an over-subscribed series of technical workshops, Edale can justifiably describe their visit to Brussels this year a success. Although the company is a seasoned exhibitor, Labelexpo Europe 2009 was, in many ways, a new venture for Edale, the Hampshire based manufacturer of flexographic printing and converting machinery.

It was the first time that Edale had attended an exhibition without having a press on their stand. As Managing Director James Boughton explains, “As our industry becomes more sophisticated, we are finding that each and every customer has a unique requirement. We can no longer build a machine and expect somebody to buy it: we need to understand the user’s current and future requirements and then build a solution to their unique situation. Our aim at Labelexpo was to demonstrate our knowledge and experience in our four distinct areas of operation, namely Commercial Security, Flexographic Printing, Speciality Converting and Digital Printing.”

It was also the first time that Edale had shared a stand with another company. Their commercial partner in the Digital Printing sector is Agfa Graphics, with whom they combined to produce the widely acclaimed :Dotrix Modular. The :Dotrix Modular is the only digital press able to print with high production capacity on a wide variety of substrates from flexible foils of 20 micron, over self-adhesives to folding cartons up to 600 micron. The machine combines Edale’s expertise in web transportation systems with Agfa’s single-pass colour engine. For visitors wishing to see the machine in action, Edale and Agfa arranged transport to Agfa Graphics’ plant in Gent, where technical workshops were running. These included live demonstrations of Agfa’s :Dotrix Modular digital press, as well as Edale’s new quick setup, low waste press, the Edale Gamma, on which complete print station colour changes were timed (the record set was 1 minute 26 seconds). With 160 people expressing interest in the workshop, an extra day had to be added to the original schedule.
