Highly flexible, fully
customisable label and
package printing press

The FL-5 Flex Pack is our fully servo driven printing and converting system boasting servo drives on each print head, providing pre-register, auto-register and print length control, as standard.

This state of the art machine is a versatile platform with the ‘Plug & Play’ converting section allowing users to swap in and out of different converting, laminating, winding or printing options to facilitate the production of value-added products.

The high specification allows for a wide range of substrates with typical applications varying from labels and a wide range of flexible packaging substrates including PET, PVC and PP’s.

This versatility makes the flagship FL-5 Flex Pack one of the most flexible and futureproof machines on the market.

Increased productivity - high productivity is achieved with run speeds up to 200m/min.
Fully servo driven to maintain accurate and measurable control over registration on a number of substrates from 12-450 micron.
Ultra short web path of 1.85m between prints ensures minimum waste and maximum efficiency.
The unique print head geometry ensures consistent high quality print across a range of repeats with minimal adjustments.
Auto register maintains accurate registration with movements controlled via the HMI on each print station, ensuring optimum print quality and minimum waste.
Full print station colour changes achieved in under 70 seconds due to the ergonomic design of the print head.
The open architecture of the print head permits quick removal and replacement of ink without any adjustment to inking and impression.
Pre-register function positions the print cylinders in register before any material is used.
Job storage function stores detailed job data to minimise set-up times and repeatability of repeat jobs.
The rail system allows for additional options such as laminating, turnbar, foiling and screen to be easily moved between print units.
Quick set up, with a typical eight colour job set up in under 10 minutes.

Flex Pack helps increase market share in the Middle East

Background

Halwani Brothers are one of the best known food manufacturers in the Middle East, achieving large growth year-on-year. Due to the focus on their food packaging, more sophisticated equipment was needed to aid production, so they got in touch with Edale.

Solution

The company looked at a wide range of machines but decided to settle on an Edale due to the high standard of customer service they have received over the years. The technology that was in the servo driven Flex Pack press meant that it could help Halwani could increase their share of the market.

Benefits

The pre-register, auto-register and print length control features of the FL-5 Flex Pack meant that job changes were short and set up wastage a minimum. Being producers for the food industry meant the wide substrate range of the machine allowed them to gain competitive advantage over other packaging producers, with the FL-5 Flex Pack able to run on exotic materials as low as 12 micron film.

“We found our older Edale press to be a very reliable runner, but as our production needs became more sophisticated we decided to invest in a higher spec press to meet demands – which is why we chose the Flex Pack. We are thrilled with the way it has been working for us.”
