FES have been in the business of representation for the last two decades, and have a network extending over the UAE and other areas of the Middle East. They had been in contact with Edale regarding possible representation for some time, and the partnership was then sealed at the Gulf Print & Pack show in Dubai last month.

Bernhard Grob, Export Sales Director was thrilled to gain this new representation commenting, “With a proven record in the flexographic industry, FES seemed an excellent match to promote the Edale range of equipment.  Vikram is a very dynamic and technically minded man, who I feel, alongside his team at FES, will really help to promote the Edale brand in this new territory for us”.

Gegründet im Jahr 1988 als traditionelles Bogenoffset-Unternehmen, hat ODD jetzt mehr als 150 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter und sind in allen Aspekten des Drucks tätig – Offset-, Digital-und, in jüngerer Zeit, Flexodruck mit der Einführung des Edale FL-3. Die ODD GmbH hat sich für zusätzliche Funktionen bei ihren Maschinen entschieden. So z. B. für ein Wendekreuz, eine Kaltfolien Station und Fächerfalzung als Lieferoption. Weiter für ein auf Schienen montiertes Personalisierungssystem Inkjet-Plattform um die bereits existierenden Domino Inkjet-Köpfe zu befestigen.

Alexander Hassinger, Technischer Direktor von Odd sagt: “Wir arbeiten mit Edale, weil wir die FL-3-Maschine für eine intelligente Lösung unserer Anforderungen halten. Edale bietet ausgezeichnete britische Technologie, guten Service und ein freundliches Team. Die Maschine ist sehr vielseitig und wir können sie anhand verschiedener Optionen aktualisieren, wenn in Zukunft die Notwendigkeit entsteht.”

Die Beziehung zwischen ODD GmbH und Edale begann im Jahr 2011 auf einer Veranstaltung in der Messe Sinsheim in Deutschland, auf der Edale die Flexopress-Maschine Alpha mit 5-Farben ausgestellt hat. Nachhaltig von den Fähigkeiten des Alpha-Modells beeindruckt, reiste ein Vertreter der ODD GmbH nach Großbritannien um andere Maschinen aus diesem Bereich zu sehen. Dort wurde festgestellt, dass die nächste Generation der FL-3 die ideale Maschine für den Betrieb ist.
Die Entscheidung für die Edale FL-3 hatte eine Reihe von Gründen: Geringer Abfall, hohe Produktivität, schnelle Einrichtung und Umstellung und innovatives Design. Herr Hassinger fährt fort: “Die Technologie ist von sehr hoher Spezifikation, dabei jedoch nicht zu kompliziert und die Druckergebnisse sind sehr gut. Schon die Auto-Register Option neben den Standard-Funktionen spart uns Zeit und Geld. Wir sparen eine Menge Bediener, Ausfallzeiten beim Formatwechsel und die Rüstzeiten wurden im Vergleich zu unserer vorherigen Maschine drastisch reduziert.”

Nachdem Abschluss der Installation abgeschlossen und Start der Produktion, führte ODD einen Tag der offenen Tür durch. Kunden, Lieferanten und der Geschäftsfreunde waren eingeladen, sich die neue Maschine anzusehen. Bernhard Grob, Export Sales Direktor von Edale, war ebenso anwesend wie die neue deutsche Vertretung von Edale, die Firma PorterPac.

Bernhard Grob kommentiert: “Dass wir unsere neueste Maschine, die FL-3, in einer so angesehenen Organisation installieren konnten, ist sehr erfreulich. Ebenso ist es ein Bonus, dass der Standort von potenziellen Kunden besucht werden kann, um eine in Deutschland montierte FL-3  sehen zu können. Wir freuen uns auf die weitere Zusammenarbeit mit dem Team von ODD“.

Founded in 1988 as a traditional sheet offset company, ODD now employ over 150 people and have diversified into all aspects of print – offset, digital and more recently, flexo, with the introduction of the Edale FL-3. ODD GmbH opted for additional features on to their machine including turn bar, cold foil station and fan folding delivery option, as well as a rail mounted personalisation system inkjet platform to mount their existing Domino inkjet heads.

Alexander Hassinger, Technical Director, of Odd says “We chose to work with Edale because we believe the FL-3 machine is a smart solution for our requirements; excellent British technology, good service and a friendly team of people. The machine is highly versatile and we can upgrade it with various options if the need arises in the future”.

The relationship between odd GmbH and Edale started in 2011 at the Sinsheim event held at Messe Sinsheim, Germany where Edale exhibited with a 5 colour Alpha compact flexopress; after initially being impressed by the Alpha’s capabilities, Odd GmbH then travelled to the UK to view other machines in the range, before deciding the next generation FL-3 machine would be a better fit for their operation.

They chose the Edale FL-3 for a number of reasons; low waste, high productivity, fast set up and changeovers, alongside innovative design. Mr Hassinger continues “the technology is very high specification but is not over-complicated and the print results are very good. The auto-register option alongside the standard features has already saved us time and money. We save a lot of operator downtime when changing jobs and the make-ready time is dramatically reduced compared to our previous machine.” 

After the installation had been completed and production had begun, ODD held an Open Day where customers, suppliers and industry friends were invited to view the new press. Bernhard Grob, Edale’s Export Sales Director, was in attendance, alongside Edale’s newly signed German agent, Porter Pac.

Bernhard Grob comments “To have our newest machine, the FL-3 installed into such a reputable organisation is great; the fact that we are able to use their site for potential customer visits to see an FL-3 in Germany is also a bonus. We look forward to continuing our working relationship with the team at ODD”.

ES Print was founded in 2004 and focuses on the supply of machinery, spare parts and consumables for the flexographic printing market across Russia where they have established themselves as a leader in their field and are highly respected with customers and suppliers alike.

Im April 2013 besuchten Jerry Porter, und sein Sohn Sean Porter,  Edale´s Hauptsitz, um Edale´s Export Verkaufsleiter Bernhard Grob kennenzulernen und um mehr über die Produktpallette von Edale zu erfahren.

Porter Pac are specialists in the label and packaging markets with a proven background in successfully selling US brand flexographic printing presses for many years across Germany, and Worldwide.

As well as narrow web and labeling focuses, Porter Pac are also key distributors for slitter rewinder machinery, and Edale saw the Germany based company as a strong match.

During April 2013 Jerry Porter, and son Sean, travelled over to Edale’s Head Office for a meeting with Edale’s Export Sales Director, Bernhard Grob, to meet and learn more about the product range that Edale offer.

Bernhard Grob says “I feel Porter Pac will be a great company to represent the Edale brand. Both Jerry and Sean are very hands-on with a great reputation alongside a wealth ,of technical knowledge which will be invaluable in re-introducing Edale products to the German market”.

As reported last month, Edale are sponsoring athlete Stuart Robinson in a bid to help him achieve Commonwealth games qualifying time.

Since his 13^th place marathon in Seville back in March, the momentum has stayed high and Stuart ran the local Blackpool half marathon, winning by a huge three minutes, saying “it was a very lonely run!”, he then followed that up with another win at the Interclub race just four days later.

Stuart has a number of races lined up in a bid to better his time to qualify and we wish him all the best of luck.

Demonstrations will be shown on a number of presses in the range; the award winning Alpha, Edale’s compact label and ticketing press and the next generation FL-3 label and flexible packaging press which has had some additional features and options added, and is now available in web widths of 350mm or 430mm with an optional rail system.

As well as this, there will also be a Gamma printing and converting system, a press ideal for printing on substrates from 12 micron film up to 600 micron carton board, and can be tailor-made to include a number of different value added options. The Gamma is a highly adaptable press with the ability to be modified as a short run folding carton line when run inline with the Edale FDC-510.  This flexible press is also reconfigurable as a single pass machine to produce scratch off tickets and vouchers with the capability to run over 200,000 CR80 size cards or 1,000,000 pins per hour.

Other machines available for viewing include an FDC-510 flatbed die cutter as well as a number of Beta and FL-3 models going through production ready for customer acceptances; these will be reaching all ends of the globe from Thailand to Mexico, and many places in-between!

Visitors will also be some of the first to view the next innovation to come through the Edale factory ready for its launch in 2014 – the FL-5, 760mm mid web packaging machine.

The day will include a tour of the factory and demonstration unit and also a walkthrough of the offices giving a chance to see Edale’s in-house design team at work on a variety of projects.

Edale’s Managing Director, James Boughton, will also use the day as his platform to announce some very exciting industry news, partnerships and developments.

Douglas Storrie Labels, based in Lytham-St-Anne’s, were instrumental in the development of Edale’s FL-3 label and flexible packaging press, with input from the initial design stage through to the installation into a live production environment – so, it was only right that after all of the co-development between the two companies that the winning EFIA sample, ‘Wuffitmix’, had been printed on this machine!

The Commonwealth Games, which is held every four years, is an international, multi-sporting event involving athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations, and Robinson has been training hard to achieve the qualifying time for the men’s athletics for long distance running.

Robinson comments “My main aim over the next 14 months is to achieve the Commonwealth Games qualifying time for 2014. It will take a lot of hard work, commitment and many miles on the road but I am 100% committed”.

Robinson has had a great start to 2013 with a Personal Best at the Inskip half marathon in Preston; Lancashire at the start of the year, where he won the race and in doing so set a New Course record of 1:08:25. He has also gained selection for Lancashire in the Intercounties in March, which doubles up as the World X-country trials.

“The help from Edale is really appreciated and takes away some of the financial burden in trying to achieve this time – I go through a lot of trainers running 130 miles a week!” says Robinson.

Stuart has recently competed in the Seville marathon where he ran 26 miles in 2.22.09 and finished 13th place in an international field out of 7,500 competitors, he hopes he will gain selection for England later in the year and, hopefully, the Toronto marathon later in the year will see Stuart can break the 2:20 time.
